ABOUT ST. ALBAN'S

Who We Are

St. Alban’s Episcopal Church is a warm and welcoming community of faith in Newtown Square, PA. We are rooted in the Episcopal tradition and guided by our mission:

“We strive to be the voice, heart, hands, and feet of Jesus Christ.”

At St. Alban’s, worship is at the center of our life together, but so is community. Families, children, neighbors, and newcomers all have a place here. With Sunday School and childcare each week, a vibrant choir, Bible study, and fellowship opportunities, we seek to grow together in faith while supporting one another in daily life.

Our History

St. Alban’s has been part of Newtown Square for more than 100 years. Founded in 1922 as a mission of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Radnor, our congregation first met in the Newtown Square Fire House before moving to Bishop Hollow Road in 1924. The current church property was acquired in 1948, and construction of our present sanctuary began in 1950. For generations, St. Alban’s has opened its doors to the community — hosting a thrift shop, the Model Railroad Club, the Newtown Square Food + Makers Market, and groups like Alcoholics Anonymous and Debtors Anonymous. Our annual events, such as the church picnic and Christmas caroling at the St. Alban’s Circle Tree Lighting, reflect our deep roots in local life. In 2022, we joyfully celebrated our 100th anniversary.

Our Community

We believe that faith is lived out through connection — in worship, in service, and in fellowship. Whether it’s gathering for Sunday services, studying Scripture together, singing in the choir, serving our neighbors through outreach, or simply sharing coffee and conversation after worship, St. Alban’s is a place where faith and friendship meet. We invite you to come and see what makes St. Alban’s a church home for so many in Newtown Square.

Visit us this Sunday and experience the difference of a welcoming, family-centered community of faith.
