Church History
About Our Church
St. Alban’s has been part of Newtown Square for more than 100 years.
Founded in 1922 as a mission of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Radnor, our congregation first met in the Newtown Square Fire House before moving to Bishop Hollow Road in 1924. The current church property was acquired in 1948, and construction of our present sanctuary began in 1950.
For generations, St. Alban’s has opened its doors to the community — hosting a thrift shop, the Model Railroad Club, the Newtown Square Food + Makers Market, and groups like Alcoholics Anonymous and Debtors Anonymous. Our annual events, such as the church picnic and Christmas caroling at the St. Alban’s Circle Tree Lighting, reflect our deep roots in local life.
In 2022, we joyfully celebrated our 100th anniversary.
